Kung Fu Adventure Week 2018 Blade of the Jedi, The Kung Fu of Star Wars July 16-20, 2018 Ever wonder how the actors in the latest Star Wars movie learned to wield their light sabers so well?
Through diligent training in Wushu (Kung Fu) weapon skills, of course!
Join us this summer as we learn the basics of Chinese Sword work. The same type of training the cast of "Star Wars the Last Jedi" underwent to prepare for the movies! At KFAW this year, adventurers will learn the many ways Chinese Kung fu influences our lives through media. We will practice traditional sword work related to the training and choreography of the popular Star Wars movies. Through out the week, students will be taught a form focusing on the use of the most legendary of Chinese weapons, the Straight Sword, or Jian in Mandarin Chinese. Students will also learn traditional kung fu mindfulness training and learn how that relates to the warrior training of the Jedi. We will use obstacle course training, warrior skills, sword techniques, and even fun crafts to develop "the force within". NOTE: SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY. STUDENTS WILL USE FOAM SWORD-LIKE TRAINING TOOL AS A SAFER ANALOG FOR THE STRAIGHT SWORD. TRAINING WILL BE ADAPTED FOR EACH STUDENT'S AGE, MATURITY AND SKILL LEVEL.
Registrants must read and sign the attached Health History Form and Information and Permission Form, available for download on this form (below map) and attached in the confirmation email. Both forms must be filled out and be submitted no later than June 1 to finalize enrollment in the Kung Fu Adventure Week program.
