13TH ANNUAL
SOUTH CHARLOTTE SPORTS REPORT
WINTER TRAINING ACADEMY

January 17-February 21

Every Sunday Afternoon at Olde Providence Elementary Baseball Fields

1:00pm-2:15pm or 2:30pm-3:45pm

The South Charlotte Sports Report proudly announces our 13th Annual Winter Training Academy, a unique 6 week program for ages 4-12 year old Baseball & Softball players.  Due to current challenges presented by the Virus, I have polled many past participants and decided to take this year's academy OUTSIDE, in the FRESH AIR! We will take advantage of multiple fields and space at Olde Providence Elementary School Baseball Fields.

Naturally, I did a little research first and found that the average HIGH temperature during this dates of the academy in South Charlotte is 55 degrees!   We all know that this time of the year we can see 68 degrees or we can see 42 degrees.   In order to keep the academy more enjoyable for all, I have set a high temperature mark of 45 degrees in order for the camp to happen on the scheduled days. (Depending on conditions we may work within a few degrees of that mark)  I built an extra week of camp time into the schedule to cover for a day that may be too cold or wet and we will also use the later weeks to make up any other missed time. I am a believer of over delivering on the instruction.

. Young players will receive instruction from baseball instructors and have the opportunity to build a strong fundamental hitting, fielding, throwing and pitching foundation to enhance their development.

Learning to be a pitcher?
No problem,. Learn how to use proper mechanics to throw strikes and maintain the fundamentals needed to protect young arms.boy

Want to become a more consistent hitter? No problem, weekly practice at the fundamentals of a swing will prepare your child for the start of the spring season

Looking to become a better thrower and fielder?
No problem, our instructors share the needed fundamental techniques to allow your child to take the next step in their young baseball or softball lives.

This Winter Training Academy is designed to provide  a strong fundamental base going into the spring season.  Holding the event outside will provide an overload of room to spread our and really work on game based instruction.

Parents will have the opportunity to learn proper teaching techniques from the instructors to allow for consistent instruction at home. Players will work in groups based on their current experience level. Other coaches and players from the high school, college and professional ranks will provide instruction on the key fundamentals of the game.

With the location of Olde Providence Elementary School, parents can stay at the fields or make a run to the grocery store, Wal-Mart or Target, or even slip away to Brooklyn Pizza or The Lodge for drinks and food.

In spite of being outside and having more space, we will keep the same cap on campers as we have in the past,   For 12 consecutive years, the academy has sold out.

Cost for this unique six week professionally run program is only $149 per player. Sibling discounts are available.  For more information on The Academy, please email TrippRoakes@gmail.com
