Teaching the Write Way

 
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sign-in and breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m.
  


Attend if you teach students who:

 

  •         access the curriculum through the ASOLs;              
  •         struggle to write with a pencil/pen;
  •        do not yet compose sentences/paragraphs;
  •         OR are not motivated to write.

 

We will focus on:

 

  •        understanding the developmental stages of writing;
  •         exploring available assistive technology, including Alternative Pencils;
  •         motivating students to enjoy writing;
  •         AND creating ASOL-referenced writing activities that engage ALL learners.

 

Writing can help children with disabilities learn to read, communicate, and problem solve (Erickson & Koppenhaver, 2007).
