General Educational Philosophy

Our dedicated teaching staff at JCA School serves a diverse community of learners. Students are in multi-age classrooms to create a diverse learning environment. Older students can assist younger students, and younger students have peers they can look to for support. In addition larger class sizes allow students to become friendly with more Jewish children their age. Study of the Jewish holidays, sacred texts, Hebrew language, and Jewish history occurs alongside lively discussions of ethics and contemporary world events. Teachers use song, art, cooking, literature, and games to cultivate a spirit of cultural connection, joy, and intellectual inquiry. Children are encouraged to explore their connection to Judaism and their understanding of what God means to them, to participate in synagogue life, and to develop a love for Torah. We have created a flexible program that allows each family to focus on the elements of Jewish education that are most important to them, and to assist in making sure that Jewish education can fit into the busy lives of our members.
